Why this is a Masterpiece
The vessel is elaborately decorated with lively animal designs. It has a bovine head at the spout end, an owl or birdlike mask at the opposite end, and a horn-shaped handle. Its body is decorated with a dragon pattern. The inscription "Fuhao" is incised in the lid and the vessel bottom. It was made by the children of King Wuding of the Shang Dynasty for sacrificing to their mother "Fuhao". This is a quite rare bronze vessel.
